Only 12 Days to go until our due date. Excited! She hasn’t dropped yet- which makes me a little nervous about possibly needing to be induced for other medical reasons. We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. Until then, rest mixed with walking and stretching!

Im still working, most of the time it is ok. Sometimes I wonder what I was thinking by planning to work up until she is born.. I guess I based that decision on having never been pregnant before.

Whatever date she would like to make her birthdate is fine with Jason and I now that she is full term. If she wanted to wait until October that would be good so that she could share her birthday month with her daddy. Also, a few of the grandparents are out of commission currently so they would not get to see her the first few days she after she was born. Grandma Debbie is feeling a bit under the weather. Grandma Dawn, Grandpa Rod, Great Grandma Ruth, and Great Grandpa Al are out of town until the 26th or 27th? She’ll come when she’s ready though.

Laundry List of Extra Pregnancy Symptoms aside from Standard Aches and Pains (Just in case Im silly enough to want to become pregnanzt a second time)

(Week 12) Bleeding- Ultrasound performed- not close to baby- resolved on its own- scared the crap out of me.

(10-24 Weeks) Morning Sickness- I thought it was pretty bad but I have no basis for comparison- though I find phsycial pain easier to deal with than nausea. Silver lining- nausea is a sign of good hormone production and baby development (also an early indication that she was a girl)

(Week 24) Gestational Diabetes – Diagnosed Early, Diet and Exercise maintenance only initially. Lots of Blood Work and Self-Monitoring (the testing supplies was not covered under my insurance- greeat) Also, Extra Ultrasounds (That was fun) and Biweekly Appointments with a Nutitionist and Endocrinologist. From this point on we got to worry about her size constatntly and the extra things that can go wrong with Rory because of the condition- most minor.

(Week 34) Gestational Diabetes- Insulin Shots + Diet – Most of the time the shots aren’t so bad. I was really disappointed that Rory will be taken to NICU for monitoring no matter what now, Jason gets to go with her though The insulin also lead to extra appointments with the Enodcrinologist and Non-Stress Test 2X a Week

(Week 36) Right Kidney Hydronephrosis – Not Sure what this will lead to yet. Possibly a stent- as I work with these I know how things can go wrong .. so Id rather not but we’ll see. The first internal exam was this week as well- 80% effaced and 1 cm dilated. They also took a swab to do Group Strep B Testing. This week a large number of cases of H1N1 were diagnosed at Purdue.. something else to worry about..

Predictions: (Weeks 37-40) Everything was perfect and I didnt even need an epidural to deliver. Rory was born at 7lbs18oz and perfectly healthy. Positive thoughts right!

Ok minor correction for Week 37 – Tested Positive for Group Strep B…this means that during labor in addition to an insulin drip I will have an antibiotic drip for at least 4 hours. Which also means that as soon as it looks like im going into labor I will have to go to the hospital just in case my labor is quick. This is to make sure the baby is exposed to enough antibiotic. So much for being comfortable at home for part of my labor. Im dilated to 1 1/2cm and they didnt comment on effacement. I started taking Zantac and my kidney isnt collecting enough fluid to start treatment prior to the baby being born. Also a possible torn abdominal muscle.

General Comments for the Week/ Pregnancy: “Awww Come On!!!”"

1. Cravings- because really who craves anything I’m allowed to eat.

2. Sleeping In- I have to get up to take my blood sugar/ take a shot.

3. The suprise of going into labor naturally thinking I have as good a chance as anyone to avoid a c-section.

4. Knowing that she will be taken to NICU no matter what….

There are obviously so many things I am getting that others aren’t- I am very aware and happy for those things. I just felt like whining a bit and now I feel better and a little ungrateful- so I suppose the exercise served its purpose.

Let me start out with Rory’s heartbeat was beautiful and she is kicking up a storm. This weeks appointment, however, was not all rainbows and sunshine. Early last Saturday morning I woke up very nauseous with stomach pain and diarrhea. After about an hour I went back to bed and woke up feeling better but my fasting blood glucose was high. It has remainded high the entire week. Nothing crazy high, about 5-10 points outside of the desired range. The end result is that I went to an endocrinologist today and was prescribed Insulin for the remainder of the pregnancy.

The point of the Insulin is to keep the baby from putting on too much fat too quickly. This is a problem for two reasons:

1. If she gets too big I may go into pre-term labor and she could be born without sufficient organ development (specifically lungs).

2. A baby that is chubby in the abdomen is much harder to deliver than a run of the mill large baby due to shape and size distribution. Which means she could become stuck in the birth canal or not enter the birth canal at all… leading to a c-section.

After delivery, Rory will be taken to NICU for at least four hours for observation. Jason can go with her and if I am well enough I can go to feed her and visit as well.

In the mean time I get to add biweekly appointments with the endocrinologist, approimately 82 shots, and 164 finger pricks to my To Do List. I have to stay on a low carb diet too…

I know complain, complain…. I am thrilled that Rory looks good despite the conflicts my body and the placenta are having. She’s a little trooper and I cant wait to meet her!

The nursery is looking good and I think Jay and I will finish up odds and ends this weekend. Car seat installation, packing the hospital bags, etc. I am in the process of working out my maternity leave and we’re working on our daycare options. Good Stuff.

Twenty-seven is a perfect cube, being 3³ = 3 × 3 × 3. 27 is therefore the second smallest cube of a prime number. 27 is 23 (see tetration). There are exactly 27 straight lines on a smooth cubic surface. 27 is also a decagonal number.
